The Community Services Guild (CSG) was founded on September 8, 1980 by R. Venkatachalam, and has since relentlessly strived towards facilitating the participation of women and children in the development process at the grassroots level to improve and advance accessibility to various development schemes.
Registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act of 1975, CSG is a community-based, non-governmental organization working for the empowerment of women and children who live in poverty and struggle against social injustice on a daily basis.
CSG aims to build a society where all individuals move away from poverty and injustice to economic autonomy, personal freedom and dignity, and where the rights of every individual are well-protected.
CSG works towards its vision for a gender-equal society and the self-sustained development of women and children by providing knowledge, developing leadership, building skills, improving socioeconomic conditions, and enabling access to resources for its constituents.
One of CSG's core philosophies is to train its constituents such that they can eventually manage and sustain the programs by themselves, with CSG maintaining an advisory role. Information on CSG’s experiences with sustained women’s development can be found here, and examples of our success can be found throughout our programs.
