TRUST Training Program

The TRUST training program has been in existence since our organization’s inception, and is a crucial component in helping us achieve our vision and mission as it supports and reinforces the work being done in our other programs.

The program provides training to both our own employees and self-help groups, as well as other NGOs, and community-based organizations (CBOs) and their constituents.  Training modules are tailored to the needs of the audience, and can cover a wide variety of topics that address everything from generalized socio-economic and political concepts to more specific and practical training and workshops that will help the CBOs in organizing and administering themselves more effectively.

The following are examples of the type of subjects that are often covered in the training modules: identification and resolution of social/community problems, women’s rights and the law, women and political participation, social and resource mapping, collective bargaining, skill building workshops, savings and micro-credit, micro-insurance, the importance of proper administration, monitoring and auditing, accessing government schemes, creating and following action plans, and much more.

From January to December 2012 alone, in addition to the training given to the TRUST self-help groups and our own program and field staff, TRUST has provided over 1,000 training sessions to 15 different CBOs.

Although some of our training sessions are conducted in the field, most of them take place at the TRUST Training Centre in Karumanthurai, where we have access to a well-equipped conference hall that can comfortably seat up to 100 people.  The TRUST Training Centre also provides an outdoor training area, limited accommodation, and catering upon request.  When not in use by TRUST’s training team, our training facilities are rented out to other organizations for their own workshops and conferences.
